Alyssa is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Psychology and graduated with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Appalachian State University, with a certificate in expressive arts therapy. Alyssa has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in outpatient and university settings.
Alyssa has provided treatment for a variety of mental health concerns, including but not limited to: behavioral issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief/loss, relationship issues, stress, and life transitions. Alyssa believes the client to be the expert on their lives and strives to meet the client where they are. She understands that each person’s situation is unique and tailors her approach to each individual based on their needs. Her priority is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space to foster self-exploration, healing, and growth for individuals of all backgrounds. Alyssa’s approach is integrative and collaborative and is grounded in humanistic principles. Her orientation is eclectic, drawing from person-centered therapy, cognitive-behavior therapy, solution-focused therapy, and expressive arts therapy. Most of all, she believes in the innate capacity for individuals to heal and in the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship.
