Amelia (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina and a Nationally Certified Counselor. She earned both her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Master of Divinity from Wake Forest University. She also holds a BA in Religion from Mercer University. During her graduate training, she completed her practicum experience at Southwest Elementary School in Clemmons and her internship experience at Atrium Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. Prior to her work as a counselor, Amelia worked extensively in both healthcare and faith-based settings. She completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, GA and has additional training in conflict mediation from the Lombard Mennonite Peace Center and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples through the International Centre [sic] for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy.
Amelia has a passion for helping her clients discover meaning, foster healthy relationships, and form the foundations for a thriving life. She provides a judgement-free environment so that clients feel confident to set goals and make positive changes. Amelia honors all backgrounds, values, and identities and is affirming of the LGBTQ+ community. She integrates a variety of counseling theories into her work with both individuals and couples; these theories include Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and strengths-based approaches. Additionally, she is an ordained minister in the Christian tradition and integrates spirituality into her therapeutic work based on her clients' interests.
Amelia has experience working with people across the lifespan and currently sees individuals ages 14 and up. Amelia also works with couples of all kinds to strengthen their communication skills, heal from past injuries, form strong bonds, or find a sense of clarity and direction.
