Jaret Phillips MA, LCMHCA, NCC

Jaret (he/him) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University. Jaret is also designated as a National Certified Counselor (NCC), a title that indicates high professional standards in the field of Counseling. Jaret has experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults in outpatient settings, with past experience providing career counseling services to college students before arriving at Kernersville Counseling Center.


His outlook behind the counseling profession is an awareness of its deep transformative process, a process that values the client at the center, and includes a sensitive understanding of the person’s goals, beliefs, and path towards personal wellness. Jaret has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults on a range of presenting issues, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, career development, interpersonal and relational issues, and overall life transitions.


His therapeutic approach is integrative, with an emphasis on the person at the core, and how internal and external elements may be shaping personal development. He draws from many different therapeutic orientations, including narrative therapy, REBT, CBT, ACT, and humanistic therapies to provide a holistic, balanced view of the presenting issues. Jaret also focuses heavily on providing therapeutic services to male clients, demystifying the barriers surrounding gender stigmas, and encouraging open emotional expression for male teens and young adults.


In each session, it is Jaret’s goal to provide a space for committed growth, with an emphasis on client input. His approach focuses on the natural capabilities for growth that he believes are inherent in each client he meets. He firmly believes in collaboration, working together alongside his clients to ease emotional and behavioral distress. Through an emphasis on client strengths, he believes that change is possible through a committed path towards his client's goals, while also removing obstacles and uncovering personal insights.
