Laniya is a third-year graduate student at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, pursuing a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, as well as a certificate in Marriage and Family Counseling. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2021.
Laniya is passionate about supporting youth, families, and individuals as they navigate life’s challenges. Her journey into the mental health field started while volunteering with a local teen court program, where she witnessed firsthand the long-term impacts of untreated mental health issues in the community. That experience motivated her to pursue counseling and strengthened her dedication to increasing access to mental health services in rural and underserved areas.
With experience working closely with children, young adults, and families, she is deeply committed to serving marginalized communities and breaking the stigma around mental health. Her current focus includes trauma, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, behavioral issues, pregnancy, postpartum challenges, and parenting support.
Laniya approaches therapy with a collaborative and empathetic mindset, focusing on building trust, fostering resilience, and helping individuals access their inner strengths. She believes in meeting clients where they are, supporting them holistically, and creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where they can feel heard, understood, and empowered.
