Laura Brotherton, MA, LCMHCS, NCC, RPT

Laura is the founder and Executive Director of Kernersville Counseling Center. She graduated with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2013. She is trained in play therapy through the Multicultural Play Therapy Center at UNC Charlotte. Laura is a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and she has specialized training, experience and supervision in play therapy. In addition to being intensively trained in DBT and CBT/ERP (for the treatment of OCD), Laura is also trained in EMDR and TF-CBT. Laura enjoys working with individuals on a wide array of mental health concerns and works with clients of all ages to improve social, emotional, and behavioral issues. She has a special interest in helping children and families create or restore peace within their homes by training parents on positive parenting solutions and by providing play therapy for the children. Laura considers it a privilege to work with families on such personal matters and strives to provide a supportive and judgment free atmosphere. Laura is also a LCMHC Supervisor and she provides supervision to associate level clinicians.
