MJ Lombardino

MJ is a Counseling Intern pursuing her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has an M.A. in Higher Education from Elon University and a B.A. in Communication Arts from Florida International University. Most recently, MJ served as a Career Counselor at UNCG’s Career & Professional Development Office, where she supported college students as they navigated identity development and life transitions.

MJ views therapy as a collaborative relationship built on curiosity, authenticity, and trust. MJ enjoys working with people navigating life transitions, grief, identity development, and the many complexities of being human. She is passionate about working with immigrant and neurodivergent communities and is committed to providing culturally responsive care.

As a Latina immigrant, MJ understands that talking about mental health isn’t always easy. Her own experiences shaped her passion for creating a space where clients feel safe exploring their emotions, stories, and identities without fear of judgment. She believes that every person deserves a space where they can show up fully as themselves. To her, it’s a privilege to witness people’s souls, their hearts, sorrows, and dreams.

MJ approaches therapy from an Eclectic, Person-Centered perspective and draws on Attachment-Informed Principles and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to meet each client’s unique needs and goals. At the heart of her work is the belief that clients are the experts of their own lives. Healing isn’t about becoming someone new - it’s about reconnecting with the person you’ve always been beneath expectations, pain, and self-doubt.

Outside of the counseling room, MJ enjoys caring for her ever-growing collection of houseplants, getting lost in a good book, all things Taylor Swift, and spending time with the people she loves most.
