Natalia (she/her) is in her final year of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Wake Forest University. She also graduated from WFU with a B.A. in Psychology, with minors in both Spanish and Health and Human Services. Before coming to KCC, she completed her practicum, a pre-internship experience, at Lewisville Middle School where she served as a school counselor. She has also worked closely with organizations that support survivors of domestic and interpersonal violence, advocating in various roles. These experiences have fueled her passion for creating a supportive counseling environment where individuals can feel seen and heard.
Her clinical interests involve, but are not limited to, working with adolescents and emerging adults related to a variety of areas including anxiety, depression, life transitions, lgbtqia+ specific issues, relational conflicts, and difficulties related to marginalized identities, managing life stressors and emotions. Her theoretical orientation is based on a person-centered approach, emphasizing the therapeutic relationship between counselor and client using warmth, empathy, and authenticity. She also pulls from DBT and Gestalt therapy which embrace a holistic view of an individual and promotes the acceptance of their complexity and flaws while striving to improve their interpersonal and intrapersonal environments. At her core, Natalia’s goal as a counselor is to develop a non-judgmental space where clients feel empowered and in control of their healing journey.
When she’s not in class or at KCC, she enjoys crocheting, taking silly pictures of her cat named Cheese, and watching as many movies as possible!
